Representation matters. It’s a core reason why Mighty Well was created in the first place — so that products for patients would be designed, tested, and modeled by patients. It’s why we love to share our picks for books, movies, and TV shows featuring spoonies.
And it’s also why Jesse Ruben’s virtual concert yesterday had me moved to tears.
As you may know, Mighty Well has been hosting Mighty Meetups — weekly live events for our Friends in the Fight to find community and structure during quarantine. The last event was a live show with Jesse Ruben — an award-winning singer-songwriter and passionate Lyme advocate! His songs were uplifting, beautifully performed, and so, SO real. He expresses so vividly the pain, fear, injustice, strength, and — yes — JOY of being part of the chronic illness community. It was a powerful experience to listen with spoonies from around the country, chatting in the comments about our own experiences, led by someone who really gets it.
If you missed the show, I highly recommend you give it a listen below!
